Charlottesville to The Shenandoah

Charlottesville, VA holds a very special place in our hearts as we spent four amazing years at the University of Virginia.

We started off our weekend with a mini tailgate in the van, but unfortunately our school spirit wasn’t enough to bring the boys a win. It was great to catch up with old friends, teammates, and coaches but getting back to our Alma Mater naturally led to a few nights on the town and consuming more carbs and late night food than our bodies appreciated. Special thanks to our friends that we were able to hang out with and who let us crash.

We capped off our weekend with a struggling climb up Humpback Rock. Since our last visit, either that mountain got a hell of a lot steeper or we’re seriously out of shape. The hike was well worth our sweat and suffering as it lead us to some breathtaking sunset views of The Shenandoah Valley below. This was also our first chance to put some of our sponsors clothing and water bottles to the test and as expected, everything held up flawlessly. Check out their stuff at http://www.kavu.com and http://www.tribeprovisions.com.

Last night was also our first time sleeping in the van and we would like to thank the good people of Walmart for their generous hospitality and allowing us to stay in their parking lot! Up next, we’ll be off the grid for 3 nights backcountry camping in The Great Smokey Mountains National Park.
