Caves to Carly

This week started off with a very long, yet awesome day. Frank and I left Raleigh, NC around 1:00am and drove 9.5 hours straight through the night to Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky. We switched off driving and sleeping on our luxurious fold out bed in the back of Vanjoelina.

We arrived at Mammoth Cave just in time for our late morning tour. Mammoth Cave contains nearly 400 miles of mapped caverns with an estimated 600 miles of uncharted caves. Once we entered a small portion of the cave system, it was a bit surreal that there was no turning back. Winding down stairwells with 60 people behind us and often having to duck, turn sideways, or suck in left almost zero possibility of going out the way we came in. If you are uncomfortable in tight or confined places, I do not recommend going on a cave tour. Unfortunately, most of our pictures did not turn out well because of the poor lighting inside the cave. Check out the few we have below.

Following our stop at MC we drove the hour and a half to Nashville to visit some friends for quite possibly the best part of the day/night. The impromptu Carly Rae Jepson (Call Me Maybe?) concert really set the mood for the night as Frank and I went to meet a friend that was attending the show with his Collegiate Woman’s Lacrosse Team. What a LOSER! Since Frank and I arrived toward the end of the concert, a miracle occurred and they let us in for free. If you know me, free is my favorite word. I’ll buy something I don’t need just to get a BOGO* deal. Gotta spend money to save money!

Although it was a Monday night, we had some great friends show us around town. After being slightly over served, we may have fallen victim to believing the Toby Keith impersonator was actually him. In our defense, so did everyone else at the bar. The photo booth pictures you see below were a bonus find the following morning.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
